SoundMeter is run by one person, so your message reaches me directly. I read everything - bug reports, corrections, feature ideas and general questions are all welcome. Email is the only channel, and the quickest way to get a useful reply is to be specific about what happened.

A clear subject line helps me prioritise. Something like "Bug: meter freezes on Firefox / macOS" or "Feature request: save session as PDF" is perfect.
What I can help with
- Bug reports - the meter freezing, failing to get the microphone, or showing readings that look clearly wrong.
- Feature requests - a new tool, visualisation or export format you would find useful.
- Accuracy questions - why your reading differs from a physical meter or another app.
- Educational use - teachers and schools wanting to use the classroom meter on a projector.
- Corrections - a factual mistake in a guide or documentation page, so I can fix it.
What I cannot help with
To be upfront, a few things are outside what this project can do:
- Calibration or certification of physical meters - contact an accredited metrology lab.
- Legal noise documentation - these readings are not admissible as evidence for disputes or complaints.
- Medical hearing advice - if you are worried about hearing loss, please see a licensed audiologist or ENT.
- OSHA compliance work - workplace assessments need calibrated Class 1 or 2 instruments operated by a qualified professional.
A good bug report
If something is broken, these details let me reproduce and fix it far faster:
- Browser and version (e.g. Chrome 126, Safari 17.5).
- Operating system and device (e.g. Windows 11 laptop, iPhone 15).
- What you did, step by step, before the problem appeared.
- What you expected versus what actually happened.
- A screenshot if you can, and any red errors from the browser console (F12).
Response time
Since I run this alongside my main work, please allow a little time. I aim to reply to bug reports within about 48 hours and to general messages within a few business days. If you have not heard back in a week, a short follow-up is completely fine.
